Gastrointestinal spasm Adult: For the relief of spasms due to gastrointestinal disorders (e.g. irritable bowel syndrome): 40 mg 2-3 times daily.

Should be taken on an empty stomach.

Patient with benign prostatic hyperplasia, pyloric stenosis, and glaucoma. Pregnancy and lactation.

Nervous system disorders: Headache, dizziness. Skin and subcutaneous tissue disorders: Urticaria. |

Description:
Mechanism of Action: Otilonium bromide is a locally-acting antispasmodic agent that blocks the voltage-dependent Ca channels, thus relaxing the gastrointestinal smooth muscle. It also binds to the muscarinic receptor and tachykinin receptor. Pharmacokinetics: Absorption: Bioavailability: 3%. Time to peak plasma concentration: 2 hours. Excretion: Via faeces (95-97%). |
